F1/10 Autonomous Racing

F1/10 focuses on creating a platform comprising of 1/10 scale autonomous race cars which enables research in safety, control, and reliability of autonomous vehicles; while also providing an effective instrument for students to learn about the principles of perception, planning, and control. In addition, twice a year, I organize the F1/10 autonomous racing competition. It is co-located with Cyber-Physical Systems Week in Spring, and Embedded Systems Week in Fall. The goal is to grow a community around this competition. The competition is formula-based. With uniform hardware amongst competitors, successful teams will demonstrate novel approaches for trajectory planning, race strategy, and dynamic obstacle avoidance. Solutions to these problems are critical for the deployment of self-driving cars and advancement of mobile robotics.
